Question

How do I stop System Mechanic from automatically checking for updates when it is started?

Answer

It is not recommended that automatic update and upgrade detection be disabled or delayed, as this mechanism provides important information about critical fixes and technical remedies that may be applicable to your system configuration, as well as informative alerts about new major versions of System Mechanic.

If you would still like to disable automatic update and upgrade detection:

  1. Start System Mechanic.
  2. From the main System Mechanic interface, click Help and select Configure Update Options from the drop-down menu.
  3. Clear the Automatically check for updates at startup check box.
  4. Click OK.
