Question

How do I adjust which types of data are removed by System Mechanic's Privacy Cleaner?

Answer

To adjust the Privacy Cleaner's settings,

  1. Start System Mechanic.
  2. From the main navigation panel select Toolbox (or Tools)>Individual Tools to display a list of tool categories.
  3. From the category list, select Ensure Personal Privacy, locate the Privacy Cleaner tool, then click the corresponding Start button.
  4. From the Select Data to Erase screen, click the plus sign (+) next to Windows or the Web browser you wish to adjust settings for such as Internet Explorer or Firefox. A list of data types that the Privacy Cleaner can remove will display. A checkmark indicates that data type is currently set for removal.
  5. Select or clear the check boxes associated with each data type according to your personal preferences. When you are finished, click Next.
  6. From the Select Options screen, choose whether you would like the data to be deleted using standard Windows technology, permanently deleted (Incinerated) using System Mechanic's Incinerator tool, or moved to the recycle bin leaving it easily recoverable. When you are finished, click Next to begin erasing the data you have selected for removal.
