This article applies to:
  • iolo Personal Firewall

iolo Personal Firewall has completed the "end of life" process according to the following schedule:

Product: iolo Personal Firewall

Version: All

End of Support: Dec 1, 2009

End of Availability: Dec 31 2010

What does end of life (EOL) mean?
End of life is a process used to retire a product from active production with a planned phase-out of availability, product updates, and support.

Why is iolo giving an EOL for iolo Personal Firewall?
The firewall built into modern operating systems such as Windows 7 provides sufficient functionality for most users.

Customers within an active service period may continue to use the installed version of iolo Personal Firewall without product support until their service expires. Service may not be renewed for iolo Personal Firewall after the service period has expired.

Customers with a standalone license may continue to use the original installed version of iolo Personal Firewall without support or updates.

What will happen to products that contain the iolo Personal Firewall?
Versions of System Mechanic Professional and System Shield that originally installed iolo Personal Firewall as a component will no longer include updates for the firewall component of the product, but product support for other components of System Mechanic Professional and System Shield will continue as usual for users within active service periods. System Mechanic Professional version 9.5 and greater will not include the iolo Personal Firewall as part of its default installation.

Will there be any way to acquire iolo Personal Firewall after the End of Availability date?
After the End of Availability date, iolo Personal Firewall will no longer be available from iolo technologies in any form.
