The top of the iolo Personal Firewall Home page provides a snapshot view of your firewall protection, with links that allow you to quickly access configurations.

 

As a default, all of these features are enabled.

 

Firewall

The default and recommended status for the firewall is Enabled.

  • To change various firewall settings or disable the firewall, click Settings. The Settings window opens.

  • If the firewall is disabled, click Enable to turn it on. The firewall will automatically enable without opening the Settings window.

 

Network Activity

The default and recommended status for network activity is Enabled.

  • To stop all Internet communications to and from your computer, click Block all activity. It will appear that your computer has disconnected from the Internet and the Web will not be accessible.

  • Click Enable to restore network communications.

Note: If you had previously blocked Network Activity and then re-enabled it, a currently open Web browser will still have its access blocked. To access the Web, close the Web browser and then re-open it.

When enabled, bars of varying length display in the image to indicate network activity (if the Display network activity on homepage option is selected on the Settings window).

 

IntelliDefense

The default and recommended status for IntelliDefense is Enabled. (More on IntelliDefense.)

  • To change IntelliDefense settings or disable the feature, click Settings. The Settings window opens.

  • If IntelliDefense is disabled, click Enable to turn it on. IntelliDefense will automatically enable without opening the Settings window.
