iolo Celebrates a Decade of PC Tune-up Success

From humble beginnings and a shoestring budget to the #1 best-selling PC tune-up product, 18,000 storefronts and 21 million customers

LOS ANGELES, CA — September 17, 2008 — This month iolo technologies celebrates a highly successful first decade in the computer software business, punctuated by a growth rate of more than 80% last year, strategic global partnerships, the hiring of top veteran executive talent, and the rapid acceptance of iolo’s PC tune-up products — including #1 best-selling System Mechanic® software — in new markets.

Founded in 1998 in a single cramped Pasadena office with a vision for superior software, iolo has grown into a multi-national operation with products sold in over 18,000 global storefronts to more than 21 million customers and is poised for another 10 years of expansion and innovation. Earning hundreds of major industry awards for quality and innovation over the years, iolo’s product line is crowned by System Mechanic, its venerable flagship utility suite.

“When I founded iolo technologies, I started with a tiny, 700-square foot office, one employee, and a firm belief that hard work and a focused vision would pay off in the end,” said Noah T. Rowles, President and CEO of iolo technologies. “I fondly remember personally programming that first version of System Mechanic back in 1998; continuously designing, testing, and fine-tuning methods to get better performance out of my own PC.”

Now in its 8th version, System Mechanic has evolved into a comprehensive package of over 40 tools designed to fix, speed up, and maintain PCs so they run like new forever. System Mechanic has become recognized by industry experts such as LAPTOP Magazine, Computer Shopper, and PC Magazine as the standard against which other PC performance products are measured.

2008 marks the second year System Mechanic maintains its status as the best-selling PC tune-up utility in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. According to NPD Group reports, the product has topped sales charts nearly everywhere it has been introduced. Its sales figures this year alone grew by more than 80 percent, while the overall software utility industry has experienced a 14 percent decline in sales volume this year compared to last.

With such strong ongoing annual growth, iolo has been consistently recognized as one of the top 50 fastest growing technology companies in Southern California by Deloitte & Touche. Recently, the company has hired key executive talent, including the industry veterans behind some of the most successful classic utility software names such as Norton Utilities®, First Aid™, and Fix-It Utilities™.

“iolo’s customers have come to recognize and value us as a provider of cutting-edge products that consistently deliver on their promises,” Rowles continued. “iolo has never hesitated to be first to market with new ideas, and with our strong back-end technology, superb executive team and our customers’ continued enthusiasm for our products, we are poised for another 10 years of innovation and growth.”
