System Mechanic 8.5 is 64-bit Compatible
This month, System Mechanic 8.5 became the first comprehensive PC tune-up product to be compatible with 64-bit computers and is now available for purchase or download.
Capable of running on both 32-bit and 64-bit platforms, System Mechanic 8.5 automatically recognizes the type of operating system that you have, and then installs the appropriate components during setup. If you have a current subscription, you’ve already received an automatic update. And you can use System Mechanic on up to three 32 or 64-bit machines – so go ahead and feel free to install it on your new PC.
If you’re using other iolo products, don’t worry – all our remaining products, including our security software, DriveScrubber (secure data removal) and Search and Recover (data recovery), are slated for 64-bit compatibility updates in early 2009.
System Mechanic Now Available in Dutch and German
System Mechanic – already the #1 best-selling PC tune-up product in the US, Canada and the UK – is now available in local language versions in Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.
Because close to 50% of System Mechanic’s 21 million users come from countries where English is a second language, iolo launched an aggressive initiative to bring local language versions to new areas of the world. In March 2008, the French version of System Mechanic was launched, in cooperation with French publisher Micro Application. System Mechanic became an instant hit – only one month after its introduction, it’s already ranked as the #1 best-selling program in its category, according to GFK (the French equivalent of the U.S. retail market research firm NPD).
- French-language versions are available at stores such as FNAC, Auchan and Boulanger.
- Dutch-language versions are available online or from stores such as Dixons, Dynabyte, Media Markt and Makro.
- German-language versions are available in stores such as Mediamarkt, Saturn, Kaufhof and Karstadt.
Across the countries, the retail price for System Mechanic is 39.95 Euros (€39.95) and a single license can be legally installed on up to three PCs.
iolo Helps You Extend Your PC’s Life beyond the National 30-Month Average
Every year, more than five billion pounds of computer waste is generated, the equivalent of 17 pounds for each American. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, in 2007 alone, more than 40 million computers became obsolete, up from 20 million in 1998. And only 18% of the waste is being recycled – 82% ends up in landfills, releasing hazardous substances into the surrounding ecosystems.
On average, people use a computer for only 30 months. But the life of your PC can be extended much longer than the typical 30-month average by using System Mechanic. Rather than replacing your computer every year, tune-up your existing computer – you can stay green and avoid contributing to waste. Further, keeping your PC properly tuned creates a more power-efficient machine and reduces its energy consumption. You can reduce your electric bill and have more “green” money to spend on those holiday gifts.
