Installation Instructions

  1. Uninstall any other previous version of System Mechanic or System Mechanic Premium you have installed.

  2. Ensure that your internet connection is on.

  3. If you are installing from:

  4. A CD, insert the CD into your CD drive. The installation wizard will automatically open for most users. If the installation wizard does not open:

  5. A download, double-click on the downloaded .exe file. The installation wizard will open.

  1. Read and accept the license agreement. You must accept the license terms to install System Mechanic Premium.

  1. Continue to follow the on-screen instructions. System Mechanic Premium is a suite of tools that includes System Mechanic plus Search and Recover (data recovery) and DriveScrubber (permanent data deletion). You will be given the option to select which of these products you want to install.

    Other notes:

In the Activation Key field, completely type all letters and numbers, exactly as shown. (The hyphens will be automatically entered.) In the Email field, enter an email address that you would like to use to receive any communications from iolo regarding your license.

I see an incorrect or invalid license information message.

  1. On the last screen of the installation wizard, click Finish. You may be prompted to restart your computer to complete the installation.

Important Note: If you are installing from a CD, be sure to remove the CD prior to restarting your computer.

If you restart the computer with the CD still in the drive, System Mechanic's Drive Medic program will open. (Drive Medic is an emergency program used to diagnose and repair severe drive damage; most users will not need to run this emergency tool.)
