Firewall - Know the status of your firewall protection

To access:

Under Internet Security on the navigation bar, click Firewall.

What it does:

The Firewall pane provides access to Windows Firewall. For users without Windows Firewall, the pane provides information about the status of your firewallA firewall puts up a barrier against hackers and other intruders, while allowing the Internet access that you do want. protection.

A firewall puts up a barrier against hackers and other intruders, but allows the Internet access that you do want. Staying informed about the status of your firewall protection is essential to safe computing.

Instructions:

If you have Windows Firewall:

You can view the status of your protection, click Enable or Disable to turn the firewall on or off, and run the following functions from the Open Windows Firewall button (click the arrow on the button to view drop-down options):

• Click Open Windows Firewall to open the Windows Firewall program and view or change settings.

• Click Refresh firewall status to have System Mechanic check the status again.

• Click Turn off firewall monitoring to disable System Mechanic's firewall monitoring. (To re-enable monitoring, click Turn on firewall monitoring from the Options button.)

If you have a 3rd party firewall software or firewall software is not detected:

You can view the status of your protection and run the following functions from the Options button:

• Click View more information to read more about internet security software or access related information in this help system.

• Click Refresh firewall status to have System Mechanic check the status again.

• Click Turn off firewall monitoring to disable System Mechanic's firewall monitoring. (To re-enable monitoring, click Turn on firewall monitoring.)

If you have iolo Personal Firewall:

iolo Personal Firewall is integrated for seamless updates and configurations. You can view a snapshot of the status, open the program, and quickly access commonly used functions.  

• To open the program in a new window, click Open iolo Personal Firewall. (If the program was shut down, click Start iolo Personal Firewall.)

• To have System Mechanic check the status again, click the arrow on the Open iolo Personal Firewall/Start iolo Personal Firewall button, and then click Refresh firewall status.

  Fast access from System Mechanic is provided for commonly used functions:

   

  Field name	Information displayed	Relevant Actions
  Firewall status	The status of your firewall protection, which is either Enabled or Disabled.	If disabled, you can click Enable to turn on the protection. If enabled, you can click Disable to turn off the protection.
  IntelliDefense status	The status of your IntelliDefense protection, which is either Enabled or Disabled. IntelliDefense uses threat-assessment technology to detect risks and provide smarter control of program communication.	If disabled, you can click Enable to turn on the protection. If enabled, you can click Disable to turn off the protection.
  Internet Zone Security	The security setting for the Internet Zone displays. The Internet Zone is for all the computers, networks, and sites that are not in the Trusted Zone.	To change Zone security or view detailed Zone security settings: Click Open iolo Personal Firewall to open the program. Access the Zone Security pane on the top, left side.
  Trusted Zone Security	The security setting for the Trusted Zone displays. The Trusted Zone is for those computers, networks, and sites that are explicitly designated as trusted.
  Product version	The version of iolo Personal Firewall you are running.	---
