Overview of the Options window

On the General tab, you can control the display of program tips and repair confirmation prompts, set your type of Internet connection, and control whether System Mechanic monitors your PC for Internet connection problems.

Repair Options

By default, System Mechanic displays a confirmation prompt when you run repairs and optimizations from the Dashboard, the iolo PC Health Status Gadget, and the System Mechanic Jump List. The Repair Options section allows you to control the display of these prompts.

To turn of the prompts, clear the Prompt me before performing repairs and optimizations check box; select the check box to turn the prompts back on.

Note: You can also turn off prompts by selecting the "Do not show this prompt again" check box directly on the message itself.

System Mechanic Tips

By default, System Mechanic displays tips and additional information that you may find useful when performing certain functions.

To turn off the display of these tips, clear the Show tips check box; select the check box to turn the tips back on.

Internet Configuration (Windows XP only)

Specifying the correct Internet connection type helps System Mechanic provide you the best optimizations. If you are unsure of your connection type, ask your Internet Service Provider.

By default, your PC is monitored for Internet connection problems so that ActiveCare can automatically repair the connection if it breaks.

Note: With this option enabled, Internet activity is NOT monitored; System Mechanic only monitors whether the Internet connection is working properly.
