Overview of Securely Erase Private Data wizard
From the Select Data to Erase screen for a given browser's cookie setting, click Manage Cookies to open the Cookie Protector window.
The Cookie Protector allows you to delete the cookies that you do not need, but protect the ones that you find beneficial and want to keep.
Cookies are useful for loading Web site preferences and logins, but they also contain information that can be passed to others without your knowledge. The Cookie Protector gives you control over which cookies are deleted and which cookies are saved.
The Cookie Protector window displays the Web sites that have saved cookies to your drive, and lists each individual cookie for the site.
The Responsible Website pane lists each Web site and the number of associated cookies. To see the cookies for each site, click the plus (+) sign next to a site name to expand the selection.
The Details pane provides additional information for a selection.
With a Web site selected, you can view details about the site and click the link to open the site in your Web browser.
With a cookie name selected, you can view details about the cookie.
To search for specific cookie values, click Search and then select either Search Cookie data values or Web site and cookie names.
To refresh the display, click Refresh.
Protect the cookies that you want to save. By default, no Web site or cookies are protected when you first open the window. You can protect a Web site or protect individual cookies. Either:
Highlight an item and click Protect; or
Select the check box for an item. A selected item is automatically protected.
A lock symbol appears next to an item to indicate that it is protected.
Un-protect cookies that you had designated for protection, but now want to be deleted. Either:
Highlight an item and click Un-Protect; or
Clear the check box for an item. A cleared item is no longer protected.
The lock symbol no longer appears next to an item.
Click the Close icon (X) at the top of the screen to close the window and return to the Select Data to Erase screen.
