Overview of Designated Drivers
The Extended Details window displays additional information about a device driver update. There are two tabs available from this window, Driver Update Details and End User License Agreement.
Depending upon the information available for each update, some or all of the following details will display:
Update Name: The full name of the driver.
Device Type: The category of the device being updated, such as disk drive, monitor, or network adapter.
Manufacturer: The manufacturer of the device driver.
Driver Date: The date the driver update was published.
Description: A brief description of the driver update.
KB Article IDs: The Article ID's for Microsoft Knowledge Base articles pertaining to the update.
Update Priority: A suggested level of importance for the update. The three levels are: Low, Normal, and High.
Mandatory: True indicates the update is necessary for proper operation of the PC. False indicates the update has is not necessary for proper operation of the PC.
Download Size: The amount of drive space the driver update will occupy.
Is Downoaded: True indicates the update has been downloaded. False indicates the update has not been downloaded.
Is Installed: True indicates the update has been installed. False indicates the update has not been installed.
Is Uninstallable: True indicates that it is not possible for the update to be installed on your system. False indicates the update can be installed.
Is Beta: True indicates the update is is a beta version. False indicates the update is not a beta version.
Is Hidden: True indicates the update has been hidden from future scans and will not be downloaded or installed by the Designated Drivers tool. False indicates the update has not been hidden.
Languages: The languages the driver is available in.
If you do not intend to update a driver and would prefer that the Designated Drivers tool stop reporting it, you can choose to hide it. Hiding a driver update configures Designated Drivers to ignore it in future scans and results. A hidden update will not be downloaded, installed, or reported in the Update Summary.
Instructions
To hide a driver update, select the Hide this driver update in the future check box.
