From the Individual Tools pane, click Repair Problems and then click Start next to Create Drive Medic Emergency CD.
The Create Drive Medic Emergency CD wizard allows you to create an emergency disk to use if your computer ever suffers severe damage, such as the operating system failing to load.
Once created, the CD will allow you to run a DOS-based program that performs tests and repairs of your hard drives allowing you to potentially recover files that would otherwise be lost.
Note: If you purchased a CD for System Mechanic or System Mechanic Professional, you can also run the DOS-based Drive Medic program by booting directly from the installation CD. Insert the CD into the CD drive and restart your PC; the Drive Medic program will automatically start.
The Drive Medic CD you create with this wizard helps you recover from disaster if your operating system cannot be started. Drive Medic is a DOS-based program that runs tests and repairs, and does not require Windows to operate.
We suggest that you create a bootable Drive Medic CD prior to any trouble occurring. Along with the Drive Medic functions, the CD saves your computer's master boot record information and other key data that can be valuable in reviving a damaged computer.
The wizard has two screens to guide you through the process. Click a screen name below for more information:
To create a Drive Medic bootable disk with this wizard, you will need a blank CD or DVD (recordable or rewritable) and a computer with a writable CD/DVD drive.
If System Mechanic does not detect a writable CD/DVD drive, a No Drive Detected window will display. If you do have a writable CD/DVD drive, ensure that the drive is connected to your PC and then try again.
