Overview of Find Duplicate Files wizard
On the first screen of the Find Duplicate Files wizard, select a mode.
With the automatic modes, System Mechanic uses default settings for searching for and detecting duplicate files. For the advanced custom mode, you provide detailed specifications on how to detect duplicate files.
With the automatic modes, System Mechanic automatically remove junk files. The two options differ in what drives are searched.
Quick Search. Scans all drives for duplicates based on file name and file size. The duplicate files that System Mechanic detects will be displayed, and then you decide which ones you want to remove.
Deep Search. Scans all drives for duplicates based on file name, file size, and content. The duplicate files that System Mechanic detects will be displayed, and then you decide which ones you want to remove.
To have System Mechanic provide an estimate of the amount of duplicate files, click Analyze. When the analysis is completed, the estimated amount replaces the Analyze link.
Click Options to open the Automatic Cleanup Options window. This window allows you to set up an preemptive analysis and designate how removed files should be handled.
If you select one of the automatic modes, click Next to run the search.
For the Custom Search mode, you designate what areas to search and provide detailed specifications on how to detect duplicate files. The duplicate files that System Mechanic detects will be displayed, and then you decide which ones you want to remove.
If you select the custom mode, click Next to designate the location.
