From the navigation bar, click Scan.
The Scan pane displays the date you last ran a full scan, which is a complete scan of your computer that checks all files and folders, memory, and boot records for infections.
The Scan pane also shows the status of the auto scan feature, which is either Enabled or Disabled.
The Scan pane displays the date a full scan was last run (or displays "Never performed" if you haven't yet run a full scan), and allows you to run scans on-demand and set up automatic scans.
Click Scan now to run a full scan of your entire computer.
To access additional scan options, such as a scan of only specific folder, click the arrow on the Scan now button and choose from the following:
Scan system for viruses and spyware. Runs a full scan of your entire computer.
Once clicked, the Scan for Viruses and Spyware window will open and begin the scan.
Scan a specific folder for viruses and spyware. Scans a specific folder that you select.
Once clicked, the Browse for Folder window will open.
Navigate to the folder you want to scan, and then click OK.
The Scan for Viruses and Spyware window will open and begin the scan.
Scan a specific file for viruses and spyware. Scans a specific file that you select.
Once clicked, the Select a file to scan window will open.
Navigate to the file you want to scan, and then click Open.
The Scan for Viruses and Spyware window will open and begin the scan.
Configure scan settings. Allows you to view or change System Shield settings.
Once clicked, the On-demand tab of the Configure System Shield Settings window will open.
With automatic scanning, System Shield will automatically scan your computer on a regular schedule. This full scan is of your whole computer, including all files and folders, memory, and boot records. Automatic scanning is enabled by default.
The status of the automatic scanning feature displays either Enabled or Disabled. If you want to view or change settings, click Settings to open the Auto Scan tab on the Configure System Shield Settings window.
