Overview of the ActiveCare tab

The ActiveCare - Advanced Options window allows you to change various default settings related to ActiveCare. You can control when ActiveCare runs automated tasks, control the display of progress messages, and control the submission of performance data.

Note: To control which tasks ActiveCare runs automatically, enable or disable items on the Automated Tasks pane.

Frequency

Limit ActiveCare's operations to once every [X] hours

By default, ActiveCare runs every six hours. You can enter a different value, ranging from two hours to 24 hours.

Exceptions

Do not start ActiveCare unless I have been away from the computer for at least [X] minutes

By default, ActiveCare begins its analysis after your computer has been idle for 20 minutes. You can enter a different value, ranging from five minutes to 60 minutes.

Do not start ActiveCare between the hours of [X] and [ X]

If you want to disable ActiveCare during a specific time frame, select the check box and enter the start and end times in the time fields. The difference between the times cannot exceed 18 hours.

Do not start ActiveCare if my computer is running on battery power

If you want to disable ActiveCare when your computer is running on battery power, select the check box. To disregard the power source, clear the check box.

Do not start ActiveCare if any other program is running in full screen mode

Full screen mode is when a program uses the full area of the screen and is the only item visible on the monitor. Full screen mode is often used when viewing movies, videos, and games. With the check box selected, ActiveCare won't interrupt such full screen activity even if it detects no activity from you (such as mouse or keyboard entries).

By default, the check box is selected and this feature is enabled. To disregard full screen mode, clear the check box.

Do not start ActiveCare if average CPU usage exceeds [X] % while I am away from the computer

When you are away from your computer, your PC may still be running processor-intensive activities, such as defragmenting the hard drive or scanning for viruses. While your computer is idle, System Mechanic monitors your computer's CPU usage and can disable ActiveCare if the average CPU usage exceeds a certain percentage.

By default, the check box is selected and this feature is enabled, with the threshold set to 25%. You can enter a different value, ranging from 10% to 90%. To disregard average CPU usage, clear the check box.
