To access:

From the Individual Tools pane, click Ensure Personal Privacy and then click Start next to Securely Remove Deleted File Traces.

What it does:

System Mechanic Premium users have integrated access to the built-in drive wiping software, DriveScrubber.

Why use it:

A file deleted through Windows is not completely erased; even though you can't see the file, someone using easily available tools can recover it and view its contents. More on why deleting a file doesn't erase its contents.

For confidential data you have deleted, use this DriveScrubber tool to completely erase all data remnants.

Instructions:

Click Securely Remove Deleted File Traces to open the DriveScrubber program in a separate window. This program allows you to permanently wipe away deleted data so that it cannot be recovered.

To erase just the remnants of deleted files, click Start next to Wipe free space of a drive. The wizard will guide you through the process of erasing the free space of a drive.

By wiping only the free space, remnants of deleted data are erased, but the used space is not touched and existing files, programs, and the operating system are left intact.

Note: Help specific to the DriveScrubber is provided in the program. Click Help from the menu bar on top of the DriveScrubber Home page. To get help for a specific task, click the Help button on any of the screens or windows.
