As a default, the check box is selected and System Shield periodically checks for and downloads updates. If an update is found, it will be downloaded.

• To turn off the automatic downloads, clear the check box. You can still check for updates when you wish, by clicking Update now or Check again from the Definitions section of the Anti-malware pane.

• To return to having System Shield automatically check for updates, select the check box.

As a default, System Shield checks for updates every 3 hours.

You can enter a different value, between 1 and 24 hours.

Click the link to display additional options. Options are:

• Automatically detect proxy server settings (default). This is the default selection. If you connect to the Internet through a proxy server, you can select this option. System Shield will detect settings for the primary proxy server and will automatically use other proxies if the primary proxy is unavailable.

• Do not use a proxy server to connect to the Internet. If you do not connect to the Internet through a proxy server, select this option.

• Use specific proxy server settings. If you connect to the Internet through a proxy server, you can select this option if you need to configure its settings. With this check box selected, the following fields appear, allowing you to enter information about the proxy server.

  • Proxy server. Enter the IP address or domain address of the proxy server. An entry is required.

  • Port. Enter the port number of the proxy server. An entry is required.

  • Proxy requires authentication. Select the check box if the proxy server requires authentication. Once selected, the User Name and Password fields appear. Type in the appropriate user name and password.

 

When you are finished making your changes, click Done.
