Overview of Repair Broken Shortcuts wizard
On the first screen of the Repair Broken Shortcuts wizard, select a mode.
With the automatic modes, System Mechanic will automatically repair or remove broken shortcuts.
Quick Cleanup and Repair. Searches the items in your Start menu and on your desktop for broken shortcuts. Any broken shortcuts detected will be automatically repaired or removed.
Deep Cleanup and Repair. Searches all areas on all hard drives for broken shortcuts. Any broken shortcuts detected will be automatically repaired or removed.
Click Options to open the Automatic Cleanup Options window. This window allows you to select whether you want to assign new targets to broken shortcuts, and designate how obsolete shortcuts should be handled.
If you select one of the Automatic modes, click Next to run the repair and removal.
With the Custom Search and Repair mode, the broken shortcuts System Mechanic detects will be displayed, and then you decide which ones you want to repair or remove. You also have the option to:
Exclude shortcuts referring to locations on removable drives or media (recommended)
Automatically search for replacement targets for broken shortcuts.
If you select the Custom mode, click Next to designate options.
