The Perform Full System Scan window and the Scan Files or Folders window display the status of on-demand virus scans, and then show the results of completed (or canceled) scans.
This topic describes the fields that display on the window and the actions available to you.
The left side of the window provides a running count of the files checked and the number of viruses, if any, that are detected.
Processed. The total number of files on the computer or the selected folder.
Scanned. The number of files scanned.
Infected Files. The number of infected files found.
Suspicious Files. The number of suspicious files found. A suspicious file is one that appears to have a virus based on heuristic analysis.
Note: Suspicious files are handled the same way as infected files.
Viruses Found. The number of viruses found.
For every infected file, iolo AntiVirus takes some action (depending on how on-demand scanning is configured.). The following fields show the number of files that have been handled in a certain way:
Disinfected. The number of files cleaned of viruses.
Quarantined. The number of files quarantined. (More on quarantines.)
Deleted. The number of files deleted.
Renamed. The number of files renamed. These files are renamed to end in INFECTED, so that the file name doesn't end with an executable extension.
Ignored. The number of files that were ignored by the scanner. Ignored files are ones that were to be scanned based on basic configurations, but due to user-exclusions (such as file extension) were not scanned.
When the scan is complete, any files that required action will display on the right side of the window. The following information displays:
File. The location and filename of the infected file.
Infection. The virus name. Click the name to open the Threat Center page that provides additional information on the virus.
Result. Shows the action that iolo AntiVirus took with the file. One of the following displays:
Quarantined: The file has been quarantined.
Disinfected. The file has been cleaned of viruses.
Deleted. The file has been deleted.
Renamed. The file was renamed to end in INFECTED. It remains in the same folder.
Ignored. The number of files ignored.
To stop the scanning before it completes, click Stop Scan.
Note: When iolo AntiVirus is initially scanning the boot records and memory, the Stop Scan button will not display. Wait a few moments and when the button is enabled, you can click it to stop the scanning.
