Overview of All Zone Security Options

The Custom security level lets you create your own settings to control Internet and network traffic.

 

Prior to making any changes, the initial Custom settings within the Internet Zone will be Medium and within the Trusted Zone will be Low.

Viewing/editing Custom settings:

 

Both windows have the following tabs (click on a tab name for details):

 

Columns on each tab are resizable, - Point to the divider between the column headers until you see a double arrow, and then drag the divider right or left  sortable, - Click on a column header once to sort the column in ascending order; click again to sort in descending order and movable. - You can change the order of how the columns display. Click on the column header, hold the mouse down, drag the column to the new position, then release the mouse

Note: When editing, make sure you click Save to save your changes.

Copying settings from another Security Level:

You can copy settings from any of the preset levels. This is time-saving if you want to use a setup that is similar to a preset levels, but has a few options set differently. Any custom ports you have set up are not overridden.  

 

Click Copy settings from another level and then click on one of the following from the pop-up menu:

 

Click Yes on the Warning window and then all tabs will be updated with the settings from the selected preset level. You can then make additional changes as desired.

 

Make sure you click Save on the tab to save your changes.

  1. In the Zone Security pane of the Home page, go to the Zone section that you want to update (Internet Zone or Trusted Zone).

  2. Click View Zone options to expand the list of security options.

  3. Click Turn on security and choose a specific security level. The window expands to show each security level.

  4. Click Show security level details. The pane expands to show settings for some common ports.

  5. Click View more at the bottom of the Custom column. The Viewing: Custom Level Settings window for the selected Zone opens.

  1. In the Zone Security pane of the Home page, go to the Zone section that you want to update (Internet Zone or Trusted Zone).

  2. Click View Zone options to expand the list of security options.

  3. Click Turn on security and choose a specific security level. The window expands to show each security level.

  4. Click Show security level details. The pane expands to show settings for some common ports.

  5. Click Edit Settings in the Custom column. The Edit Custom Level Settings window for the selected Zone opens.

Note: When editing, make sure you click Save to your changes.

Applying the Custom security level to a Zone

  1. In the Zone Security pane of the Home page, go to the Zone section that you want to update (Internet Zone or Trusted Zone).

  2. Click View Zone options to expand the list of security options.

  3. Click Turn on security and choose a specific security level. The window expands to show each security level.

  4. Click on the icon next to Custom. The Custom column will be highlighted and the status box at the top of the pane will display the following message:

The security level for the X Zone isCustom

...where "X Zone" is either the Internet Zone or the Trusted Zone.

  1. Prior to making any changes, the initial settings within the Internet Zone will be Medium and within the Trusted Zone will be Low.

To change settings, click Edit Settings. The Edit Custom Level Setting window opens and you can change the desired options.
