Allow Access? (Program Access Prompt)

Displays when:

The Allow Outgoing Access? or Allow Incoming Access? window displays when a program is attempting Internet communication and the firewall needs a decision from you.

Instructions:

An "Allow Outgoing Access?" or "Allow Incoming Access?" window displays when the firewall needs a decision from you on how to proceed. The window lets you allow or block access, and provides information to help you make a decision.

Note: You can take the time you need to make your decision. If the window starts to fade (an indication that it's idle), place your mouse over the window so that it remains active until you make your choice. More information on idle prompts:

If the prompt window is idle (meaning, you have not clicked on or moved your mouse/pointing device on the window), it will start to fade.

If the window has been idle for 15 seconds, the firewall will respond using the default program permission, which is to either block or allow access.

How do I turn off all "Allow Access?" prompts?

You can turn off prompts in one of two ways:

 

Prompts will no longer display for any programs. Programs will either be blocked or allowed, as set up in default program permissions.

Note: To turn prompts back on, select the Show prompts - only use default program permission after [X] seconds option on the Settingswindow.

To block or allow access

Click one of the following four buttons:

To turn off all prompts

Select the Activate default program permissions check box if you do not want to see prompts for any programs. Programs will automatically either be blocked or allowed, as set up in default program permissions.

Note: Selecting this option turns of all prompts, not just the prompts for the current program.
