Overview of Configure Boot-Time Defragmentation window

The Add Boot-time Defrag Item window allows you to add the files that you want to be defragmented at boot-time. The window opens by clicking Add Item(s) from the Custom List.

  1. Click Browse to open a standard Browse window. Navigate to the desired file and click OK. You can select multiple files as you normally do in Windows using the CTRL and SHIFT keys.

  2. Repeat step 1 for every item you want to add. If you change your mind about adding an item, select it and click Remove.

  1. To set the frequency of the defragmentation, select one or more items, click Options, and then select one of these two options from the menu:

  2. Defrag selected at each restart. The selected file or files will be defragmented every time you start or restart your computer. This option is recommended for frequently used files.

  3. Defrag selected on next restart only. The selected file or files will be defragmented the next time your start or restart your computer. This sets up the boot-time defragmentation for one use.

Note: You can select multiple files or folders as you normally do in Windows, using the CTRL and SHIFT keys.

  1. When you are finished making your selections, click OK to return to the Custom List tab.
