From the Individual Tools pane, click Manage System Configuration and then click Start next to Configure Windows Startup Programs Programs.
The Configure Windows Startup Programs Programs window lists all the items currently configured to start when Windows loads. You can enable and disable items; create, load, and save startup profiles; adjust startup settings on remote computers across a network; and more.
Various programs and services are set to load when Windows loads. Power users can use the Configure Windows Startup Programs Programs window to manage and control all of these startup items.
When you first open the window, System Mechanic collects all the system data and then displays the startup items.
Startup items are grouped by location. Click a group on the left to displays its startup items on the right. Click on the plus (+) sign to expand entries on either side.
Note: You can also expand the items listed on the right from the View menu: Click View and then click Expand All or Collapse All.
You can view information about the startup items in one of two modes. From the View menu, select a mode:
Basic mode displays the following groups: Startup Folders, Registry Autorun, INI Files, Batch Files, Internet Explorer elements, and Services. This is the recommended mode for most users.
Expert mode displays the same groups as basic, plus the BootExecute and WinLogin groups.

You can filter results by various category and status attributes. Click Set Filters from the Tools menu or the View menu. Refer to the Startup Manager Filter window topic for more information.
The window uses icons to indicate the category and status. Click here for details.
Note: To display a legend of what each icon indicates, from the View menu, click Show Legend. The legend will display at the bottom of the window.
The following Tools menu options allow you to view and access information related to each item.
Open Location. Opens a Windows Explorer window, showing the folder that contains the file.
Open Reference. Opens the Registry Editor. This option is available when a registry startup item is selected.
Ask Google®. Opens the Google search page engine with the startup name entered a search keyword.
Properties. Opens a Properties window that shows the file's properties. (You can also open this window by clicking the Properties menu.) Refer to the Startup Item Properties Window topic for details.
To enable or disable items from startup: Select the item and either click Enable to add it to startup or Disable to remove it from startup. You can also access the Enable and Disable functions from the Tools menu.
Note: The Enable and Disable menu options will be disabled if the selected item cannot be enabled or disabled.
To add a new item to startup: From the Tools menu, click New and then click either General Startup Item or NT Service. Refer to the Startup Item Window topic for details.
To delete a startup item: Select the item and from the Delete menu, click Delete.
To stop, start, or restart a startup item: Select the item and from the Tools menu, click Stop, Start, or Restart.
To connect to a remote computer: From the Network menu, click Connect to remote computer. The Connect to Remote Startup Configuration window opens to allow you to select the desired computer.
To disconnect: From the Network menu, click Disconnect from remote computer.
A profile is a snapshot of the current settings. With profiles, you can use different configurations and load different scenarios to help you achieve the best results.
To save a profile, from the Profiles menu, click Save Profile. A standard Save as window will open. Name the file and save it in the desired location. Profiles are saved with an .SMPRF extension.
To load a previously saved profile, from the Profiles menu, click Load Profile. A standard Open window will open. Select the profile you want to load and click Open. The Apply saved profile window opens, allowing you to apply the settings you specify. Refer to the Apply Saved Profile Window topic for details.
After loading a saved profile, you can revert back to the original settings. From the Profiles menu, click Restore original settings.
To save a report, from the Tools menu, click Save Report. A standard Save as window will open. Name the file and save it in the desired location. Profiles are saved with an .SMRPT extension.
To load a previously saved report, from the Tools menu, click Open Report. A standard Open window will open. Select the profile you want to load and click Open.
After loading a report, you can go back to the current settings. Click the Switch to live mode link, located under the window's menu bar.
