Overview of Troubleshoot System Problems wizard
The last screen of the wizard provides recommended solutions.
If your system is highly unstable, System Mechanic offers several recommendations. Read the on-screen information and then click one of the following:
Click Run the PC Repair Wizard to start the Repair Hard Drive Problems wizard.
Click Open Windows Restore Points to start the System Restore wizard, which is a Windows program that allows you to restore your computer to an earlier state.
Click Open Registry Backup Tool to open the Backup or Restore Registry window.
If you cannot start Windows, System Mechanic suggests that you run the Drive Medic program. Drive Medic is a DOS-based program that can run tests and repairs, and does not require Windows to operate.
If you have a System Mechanic installation CD or have already created a Drive Medic diskette:
Place the installation CD or the bootable diskette in the drive. (The installation CD contains the Drive Medic files.)
Click Restart the Computer Now.
Follow the on-screen instructions to run tests and repairs for your computer.
If your computer starts as it normally does and you do not see Drive Medic loading, change your computer's BIOS so that the drive that contains the bootable disk is first in the boot sequence. Click here for details:
If you do not have a System Mechanic installation CD and need to create a Drive Medic diskette, click Create Disaster Recovery Diskette Now. The Repair an Unbootable PC window will open, which allows to create the bootable diskette.
When you are finished, you can do one of the following:
Click Exit on the bottom of the screen to return to the Home page.
Click the Close icon (X) at the top of the screen to close System Mechanic.
