The System Shield Alerter:
Displays Infection Blocked messages when an infection is blocked by real-time protection.
Displays a system tray icon that indicates the status of System Shield's real-time protection.
Offers menu options that provide quick access to commonly run System Shield functions.
Displays progress when virus and spyware definition updates are being downloaded.
By default, the System Shield Alerter starts automatically when your computer starts and its icon sits in your system tray.

The System Shield Alerter tray icon changes to indicate whether real-time protection is enabled or disabled.
Displays a check mark with a green background when real-time protection is enabled.
Displays an X with a red background when real-time protection is disabled.
The System Shield Alerter tray icon offers menu options that provide quick access to commonly run System Shield functions.
To display the menu options, right-click on the System Shield Alerter tray icon.
Enable Real-time Protection enables System Shield's real-time protection. (This option displays only if real-time protection is disabled.)
Open System Shield opens the Anti-malware pane, which is main interface for System Shield and allows you to run virus and spyware scans on-demand, monitor anti-malware activity, configure settings, and more.
Configure System Shield opens the Configure System Shield Settings window, which allows you to designate what is included or excluded in the various virus and spyware scans and to access other program settings.
Scan the Entire System for Malware opens the Scan for Viruses and Spyware window and starts a scan of your entire computer.
Hide Tray Icon. Removes the System Shield Alerter icon from displaying in the system tray. (The real-time protection will remain running.) The icon can be re-displayed from the Preferences tab of the Configure System Shield Settings window.
When virus and spyware definition updates are being downloaded, a small progress window displays.
If desired, you can click Hide this window to hide the progress window. To re-display the progress window, either double-click on the System Shield Alerter tray icon or change the setting on the Preferences tab of the Configure System Shield Settings window.
