To access:

From the Individual Tools pane, click Enhance Protection.

What they do:

The Enhance Protection tools increase the level of protection and strengthen the defense of your computer.

Why use them:

Anti-malware and firewall protection are the first lines of defense against Internet dangers, and System Mechanic offers additional tools to close security holes, block unwanted adware, and protect your registry's vital settings.

Tools:

Security Optimizer

Fix Security Vulnerabilities. Find and repair Windows security flaws that leave your system open to attack.

Registry Backup

Back Up or Restore Registry. Protect the registry by scheduling regular backups or by doing backups and restorations on demand.

System Guard

Block Unwanted System Changes. Stop malicious programs from changing key settings without your knowledge.

For users who also have System Shield installed, the following tools are available:

System Shield

Scan the Entire System for Malware. Scan your whole computer for viruses and other malicious files.
Scan a Specific Folder for Malware. Scan a single folder you select for viruses and other malicious files.
Scan a Specific File for Malware. Scan a single file you select for viruses and other malicious files.
Configure System Shield Settings. Change settings for on-demand, real-time, and e-mail scans.
Manage System Shield Quarantine. Restore or purge items from the Quarantine, which is a safe holding area where System Shield places infected or suspicious files.
View System Shield Disinfection History. View statistics on the files and email messages found with infections.
