Search and Recover™ 4 Easy and Inexpensive

Newest Version of Award-Winning Search and Recover Utility Software Rescues Data Even After Worst PC Disasters

July 20, 2006—iolo technologies today announced the launch of Search and RecoverTM 4, the newest version of its critically acclaimed data recovery software for Windows® operating systems. In just a few simple steps, Search and RecoverTM 4 can locate and retrieve precious data that has been deleted, damaged, or destroyed—even years later. It used to be that only computer experts could accomplish data recovery, but now high-level data rescue capabilities are available to PC owners at all technical levels.

Deleting something by mistake is an experience that happens to all computer users. The fact that data can be retrieved has to do with what happens when it is deleted. It is not removed from the computer’s hard drive, but instead the system labels the space on the drive as being available for writing over by a new file or the expansion of an existing one. If this hasn’t happened yet, the data can very likely be resurrected in pristine form. This holds true for other digital devices as well. Search and RecoverTM can rescue files, photos, e-mail messages, movies, music, or documents from hard drives, floppy disks, CDs/DVDs, music players, digital cameras, PDAs, memory cards, and more. E-mail messages can be retrieved even after the “trash” has been emptied, and in Microsoft® Outlook®, even calendars, tasks, notes, journals, and contacts can be rescued. Search and RecoverTM can also resurrect data after the worst PC disasters, such as accidental formatting, reinstallation, or repartitioning.

New version 4 features a significantly enhanced suite of tools, including iolo’s proprietary StrongScanTM technology that has deep-search capability to find more files. The new SmartScanTM search method improves accuracy, making it easier and quicker to find and recover specific files. Also new is TotalRecoveryTM, a technology that allows users to automatically recover and save data from an entire disk or drive with just one click. Improved preview functionality allows users to see, hear, or read multimedia files before physically restoring them, making recovery choices more precise and effective. In addition, advanced data imaging options provide the ability to create new “virtual” drives and backup copies of important data from any hard drive, CD, or DVD, including damaged or inaccessible media.

Of course, sometimes people actually want confidential, personal, or sensitive data to disappear permanently. Search and RecoverTM 4 includes improved data security options for deletion of any file or folder so completely that even Search and Recover can’t find it again.

Search and RecoverTM 4 works with Microsoft® Windows® XP, 2000, Me, and 98, and all Windows file formats: FAT12, FAT16, FAT32, and NTFS. It runs on all types of hard drives, including IDE, SCSI, USB, and FireWire, and it is compatible with all portable digital media, such as memory cards, USB drives, music players, CDs/DVDs, and digital cameras. The software requires 10 MB of hard disk space and 64 MB RAM, and an Internet connection is recommended, with Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher.

At $39.95 for a three-PC license, Search and RecoverTM 4 is an inexpensive way to recover priceless, irreplaceable data. Unlimited technical support from iolo is free of charge, and a free evaluation copy may be downloaded at www.iolo.com/downloads.
